Longyearbyen - Embarkation
1Day

Longyearbyen - Embarkation

Having made your way independently to the Arctic town of Longyearbyen, the administrative capital of the Svalbard archipelago, you will be transferred to the port where your expedition ship awaits for late afternoon embarkation.

After settling in to your comfortable cabin and familiarising yourself with the ship, you may wish to spend some time on deck watching as the Spitsbergen coastline fades into the distance and your journey to Greenland begins.

At Sea / Northeast Greenland National Park
2 - 8Days

At Sea / Northeast Greenland National Park

Some enjoyable days at sea, where informative lectures, discussions and photo workshops will keep you entertained, will bring us to the stunning fjord system of Northeast Greenland National Park, the largest National Park in the world. Here we will sail into the winding, iceberg filled fjords of Scoresbysund to enjoy visits to remote bays, inlets and glaciers whilst keeping a lookout for the Arctic wildlife that resides here including whales, seals and numerous Arctic birds such as fulmars and kittiwakes. Enjoying our days surrounded by breath-taking mountain scenery, you will take thrilling Zodiac cruises into the harder to reach bays, enjoy walks across the lush and colourful autumn tundra to search for musk oxen and learn all about the incredible geological features of this unforgettable region.

Sailing through vast fjords and narrow inlets, the photo opportunities here are endless. And with the ever-changing light of Polar sunrises and sunsets blanketing the mountains in lavish colours, your cameras are likely to be just as full as your hearts. On the dark, star-filled nights, there may even be the chance to witness the spectacular natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

Ittoqqortoormiit
9Day

Ittoqqortoormiit

Having spent several days traversing through the magnificent scenery of the far reaches of Greenland’s wilderness, there’s time for one more Greenlandic adventure as we visit the traditional community of Ittoqqortoormiit. Home to only 450 inhabitants, this small and vibrant community will offer you an insight into life this far north. Greenland’s most remote town, Ittoqqortoormiit is characterised by its brightly coloured buildings set amongst a beautiful landscape of mountains and sea. Experience the warm hospitality of the community’s inhabitants and learn about the traditions and ways of life where the locals rely heavily on hunting and fishing. You may get to meet some Greenlandic husky puppies and see the locals driving their dog sleds and snowmobiles.

Greenland Sea to Spitsbergen
10 - 13Days

Greenland Sea to Spitsbergen

Having sailed back across the Greenland Sea, we will now spend some time exploring the equally impressive Northwest Spitsbergen National Park on the largest island in the Svalbard archipelago. Blessed with unforgettable scenery, a fascinating history and a rich wildlife population, Spitsbergen is one of the most unique places on the planet. Our Polar vessel will allow us to visit remote and seldom-visited areas on a constant search for wildlife and historical and scenic experiences. Our exact route and itinerary will be dependent on ice, sea and weather conditions and will be determined on a day by day basis - this is true expedition sailing after all.

Exploring a small portion of Spitsbergen’s west coast, we will hope to make numerous stops to search for Svalbard reindeer, Arctic foxes and other fascinating Arctic wildlife. Thrilling Zodiac cruises will bring us up-close to the area’s delights and your expert expedition team will keep you informed along the way about this remarkable region’s geology, wildlife and history.

Longyearbyen - Disembarkation
14Day

Longyearbyen - Disembarkation

As your exciting expedition sadly comes to an end, it will be time to disembark in Longyearbyen and join your transfer back to the airport. We will arrive in Longyearbyen late in the evening of day 13 to allow those with early morning flights to disembark early.

There are countless opportunities in Longyearbyen for further Arctic adventures so please enquire if you would like to extend your stay to discover more of this very special region.
