End of The Earth Hiking Adventure

Having arrived independently to Buenos Aires, Argentina’s vibrant and enchanting capital city, you’ll make your way to the hotel for your included overnight stay. The rest of the day will be at your leisure. We highly recommend booking an extra day or 2 here to experience all that this remarkable city has to offer. Take a stroll through the districts of Recoleta, Palermo, La Boca and San Telmo, see the colourful buildings and enjoy an impromptu tango performance in the picture-perfect Caminito, and sample some famous fugazzeta pizza as you get the perfect introduction to Argentina.

On the evening of day 1 you will meet your tour leader and fellow guests at the introductory meeting at your hotel.

This morning you will join your included flight to El Calafate, where upon arrival you will take the bus to El Chaltén and Los Glaciares National Park, passing by stunning scenery of the Andean Mountains along the way. Upon arrival in El Chaltén, after checking in to your accommodation, you can enjoy some free time exploring around the village or head off on some nearby short hiking trails to warm up for the bigger hikes ahead.

Today you will take a thrilling full-day hike through the granite peaks of the majestic Los Glaciares National Park. Witness the third largest ice field on earth, surrounded by ever-changing landscapes of exposed alpine fields and tree covered trails, and hike to Laguna de los Tres to capture incredible views of the Fitz Roy peaks, one of Patagonia’s most iconic sights.

A day of relaxation awaits as you take the bus back to the picturesque and quaint town of El Calafate. Relax those aching muscles at the hotel or enjoy a stroll around the town. The day is at your leisure.

2 night’s accommodation at Hosteria Posta with breakfast included.

Today you will travel from El Calafate to the fabulous Perito Moreno Glacier and enjoy an included guided tour here to see one of the world’s only “advancing” glaciers.

Optional activities for an additional fee here include an exciting glacier boat tour which will take through the iceberg channel and right up to the wall of the glacier where most of the ice calving takes place.

A 5-6 hour bus journey today will take you across the border and into Chile where you will reach the scenic town of Puerto Natales. Enjoy an evening of relaxation here in preparation for the strenuous hikes ahead. This is also the ideal place to pick up any essentials and hire hiking or camping equipment if required.

Today marks the start of your 2 day hiking and camping experience in Torres del Paine. Travelling by private vehicle you will cross the pampa Patagonica, stopping along the way for photo opportunities and wildlife sightings, before entering the park to begin your trek. Led by an expert guide, you will hike for approximately 4-5 hours to the base of Las Torres campsite. Although a long and arduous hike, the views of the famous three towers and turquoise lagoon make it absolutely worthwhile!

After your hike you will transfer to the campsite to enjoy some delicious food around the campfire and some well-deserved relaxation.

Day 2 of your Torres del Paine trek will see you take a ferry across lake Pehoe to the French Valley, from which there are some unforgettable views. From here you will partake in another full day of hiking through contrasting landscapes surrounded by incredible scenery at every turn, before returning to the campsite in the early evening.

2 night’s camping at Campsite Paine Grande, or similar, with breakfasts, lunches and dinners included.

As your Torres del Paine hiking experience comes to an end, you can enjoy a final exhilarating hike to Grey Lake and the lookout point for Grey Glacier, one of Torres del Paine’s most spectacular glaciers. After some time to soak up the sights, you will catch the ferry back to Puerto Natales in the afternoon where it will definitely be time to put your feet up!

Day 10 brings almost a full day of travelling as you check out after breakfast and take the bus to Punta Arenas. Here you will hop on a short ferry over to Tierra del Fuego where we recommend stocking up on the snacks as the journey ahead is approximately 10-12 hours. After crossing the border back into Argentina, a few hours later you will transfer to a van for the remainder of the journey to Ushuaia.

Upon arrival in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city, you will check into your hotel and get a good rest before your two full days of free time to explore around this unique area.

No scheduled activities have been included for your time in Ushuaia but there are ample options available including a Beagle Channel cruise to Isla Martillo to see the famous Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse and search for bird and wildlife sightings along the way such as seals, sealions and imperial cormorants. Upon arrival at Isla Martillo you will have the chance to look for sightings of Magellanic penguins before heading back to Ushuaia. Breeding season for the Magellanic penguins is between November and March.

Alternatively, you could hike to Laguna Esmeralda, visit the beautiful Tierra del Fuego National Park, take a trip to see the Martial Glacier, enjoy a helicopter ride over the mountains, visit the museums, or take a horseback ride across the city’s impressive landscapes. Or you may wish to simply relax and soak up the atmosphere in this city at the end of the earth.

3 night’s accommodation at Cilene del Faro Hotel, or similar, with breakfast included.

On day 13 you will take your included flight back to Buenos Aires for another chance to see some of this unforgettable city’s sights. There are no included activities here but there are plenty of options available including tango experiences, city tours and neighbourhood visits.

Your adventurous South America tour ends after checkout on day 14.
