Pangolin Voyager Houseboat, Chobe River
1 - 3Days

Pangolin Voyager Houseboat, Chobe River

Arrive independently to Kasane airport where you will be greeted by your dedicated photo host. You will then take a short transfer across the Chobe River (to the Namibian side) where you will board your floating lodge and settle in for your 3 night stay.

Your itinerary over these 3 days will be relaxed and full of fantastic photo opportunities as your houseboat cruises up and down the river between its 3 set mooring points. A standard day will see you wake early and head out in the houseboat’s 8-seater photo boat for a guided cruise along the river in search of wildlife. Each seat rotates 360 degrees and has a camera mount built into the chair making it perfect for capturing those special shots and allowing for interaction with your photo tutor and fellow guests. You will return to the houseboat for a tasty brunch as we set sail for the next mooring point. Your afternoon can be spent relaxing on deck or joining your photo host for a review of the images you will have taken on your morning cruise.

In the late afternoon, a couple of hours before sunset, the houseboat will have reached the next mooring point and you can hop back into the photo boat to see what subjects can be found during the “golden hour” at the end of the day. Enjoy a refreshing sundowner as you soak up the sights and sounds of the river before returning to the houseboat for a delicious three-course meal surrounded by the sounds of the wildlife calling from the National Park on the opposite bank.

3 nights accommodation on the Pangolin Voyager Houseboat with all meals, beverages & activities included.

Pangolin Photo Camp, Okavango Delta
4 - 6Days

Pangolin Photo Camp, Okavango Delta

On the morning of day 4 we will make our way back across to Botswana to board the included scenic charter flight over to the Okavango Delta. This one hour flight offers a wonderful view over the Delta, and upon arrival at the private airstrip you will hop into your waiting game drive vehicle to transfer to the Pangolin Photo Camp.

This very comfortable camp is located within its own 100,000ha private concession and offers an authentic, yet very comfortable, way of truly experiencing the delights of the Okavango Delta area. Being within its own private concession, we are afforded the freedom to explore at our leisure, including off-road, and to spend as much time at each sighting as needed. The camp is relocated every fortnight so as to be as close to seasonal sightings as possible, maximising the chances of some fantastic wildlife opportunities.

Daily activities will be centred around these opportunities, with twice daily game drives, night drives and bush walks bringing us close to the action. The game drive vehicles have been specially customised to allow for uninterrupted views from every seat and to enable full interaction with your photographic guide and fellow travellers. The concession is bisected by the Selinda spillway which is a significant water source and the open plains across the area lend themselves to large herds of herbivores and their pursuant predators – lions, wild dogs, leopards and cheetah – giving us an uncountable number of subjects to capture through the lens. Being the Okavango Delta, the birdlife is also prolific.

Special activities may include astrophotography sessions and the dates for this trip have been scheduled to coincide with the new moon, increasing the chances of having perfect conditions for nighttime photography. An underground waterhole hide will also offer excellent opportunities for unique shots.

With exclusive use of the camp, you and your group will be free to spend your day as you please, with flexible meal times to allow flexibility for game drives and sightings. Image review and editing sessions with your photo guide will take place in the afternoon, and in the evening you can spend some time relaxing around the fire with a refreshing drink, chatting about the experiences of the day, before enjoying the comforts of your spacious tent.

Dinaka Camp, Central Kalahari
7 - 9Days

Dinaka Camp, Central Kalahari

On the morning of day 7, after breakfast you will hop into the game drive vehicle for a relaxing drive to the airstrip, stopping for our last Delta wildlife sightings along the way. After your included charter flight to The Central Kalahari, you will transfer to the fantastic Dinaka Camp for your final 3 days of photographic adventures. The Kalahari by its very nature tends to be a slightly more relaxed environment and the perfect third destination for this safari. Home to one of the most unique biodiversities in Southern Africa, on this portion of your trip you can hope to encounter some of the rarer and less-photographed species including Kalahari lion, brown hyena, cheetah, leopard, small mammals like the honey badger, bat eared fox and porcupine, and several species of antelope. Birding is also spectacular here, with over 200 different bird species recorded.

Although this luxurious camp is the perfect place to relax after a busy week of adventures, the photography fun will continue. Twice daily game drives, including night drives, will keep you entertained, along with walks through the bush with the resident bushman guides where you will learn about their traditional way of life, see a demonstration of traditional fire making techniques and enjoy some storytelling as the sun sets. The night sky of the Kalahari is breath-taking, especially at certain times of the month when there is a new moon, and if the conditions are right you will have the opportunity to practice some astro and star trails photography.

Image review and editing sessions will take place in the afternoons and there will be plenty of time to soak up your magical surroundings and relax in the comfort of your beautiful camp. Enjoy some chill-out time on your private deck or sip on a cocktail by the pool and enjoy a refreshing dip; but make sure to always have your camera on hand for the buzz of activity by the camp’s waterhole!
