Johannesburg, Capetown and Victoria Falls International Airport (Zimbabwe, just over the border) are main gateways for the safari capital of Africa, Botswana. There are regular flights from London and major cities around the world to both airports.From Johannesburg, there are flights to Botswana's capital, Gaborone as well as Maun (north-west), Francistown (east) and Kasane (north).The Tuli region of Botswana which is to the west of the country also offers excellent wildlife and birding plus its only a four hour road transfer from Johannesburg so its easy to add on to a South African itinerary.
Travellers on a Botswana safari should check for latest requirements and recommendations for inoculations with their local doctor or health clinic. Similarly for Malaria precautions - the disease is especially prevalent between November & June. Hepatitis A, TPD (tetanus, polio, diptheria) and Typhoid are recommended. Hepatitis B, and Rabies should be considered. Yellow Fever certificate required if arriving from an infected area.
