Update on our Uganda Tours
- October 2023
We are deeply saddened by the recent, tragic attack in Uganda. Our hearts are with the victims and their loved ones during this difficult time. Out of respect and caution, Wildfoot Travel has taken the decision to pause all tours to Uganda for now.
Safety is, and will always be, our number one priority, and we hope to return responsibly when the situation allows.
The Wildfoot Travel Team
Occupying a privileged spot with beaches in both the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, Panama is a pioneer in ecotourism. Boasting lush rainforests, mystical cloud forests that buzz with the sound of the scintillating iridescent hummingbirds and the squawking macaw, spectacular beaches and an array of bubbling volcanos. Indeed, the diversity in this small region is vast, making it one of the best places to experience some of the world’s most magnificent species. Gazing skywards, the prolific birdlife is nothing short of incredible while under the azure coloured waters of the coastline you’ll have the chance to swim with sea turtles, manatee and rays while taking in the stunning coral reefs that are teeming with an underwater circus.
Wildlife abounds but there is no shortage of cultural experiences to be had here either. Ancient walled cities dot the landscape and local villages hum with the sounds of traditional craftsmen and women. You’ll have the chance to take a local skiff vessel through remote jungle to visit the Embera tribe, the only way to reach them, and added to this the privilege to see one of the world’s greatest feats of engineering. A definitive highlight of a Wildfoot Panama itinerary is a cruise across the Panama Canal and one you will never forget. Panama may well be among the most beautiful countries in the world and we are proud to bring you this destination as the ultimate in extraordinary wildlife and outdoor adventure travel.

Best Time to Travel
Panama has a tropical climate and gets its fair share of rain, though temperatures stay around an average of 30°C throughout the year, making it all-year-round destination. The direst time of the year is between January and mid-April, making these the most popular months for travellers.
If you’re not worried by a little rain, then travelling outside the peak months can bring its own rewards, including less crowds, and lots of fiestas and events.

One of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World, this historically important structure connects the Pacific Ocean with the Atlantic Ocean through a 50-mile series of shipping canals and locks. Visitors to Panama can learn all about the canal’s fascinating history and how it operates now with a trip to the Miraflores Visitor Centre, or for another perspective, the Agua Clara Visitor’s Center on the Atlantic side of the Canal in Colón. Ship transits of the full length of the canal can also be organised.
A birdwatcher’s paradise, expect to sight everything from harpy eagles and resplendent quetzals, to macaws and 52 types of hummingbirds. Birding abounds in the national parks and throughout the country and is most popular around Gatún Lake, the Chiriqui highlands, Boquete and its surroundings, where there are at least 6 microclimates.
From rainforests and open ocean to coastal mangroves, highland cloud forests and island archipelagos, Panama’s wonderfully diverse ecosystems are bursting with thousands of different species of flora and fauna. Prepare for an unforgettable nature watching experience as you search for sightings of everything from dolphins, whales and monkeys to giant anteaters, jaguars and spectacled bears. Alongside some of the oldest colonial relics in Central America, there are countless sites throughout the country that travellers can visit to see remnants of the country’s ancient civilisations. Panama is also home to 7 different thriving indigenous communities and many of Wildfoot’s tours will offer you the chance to visit some of these communities to learn about their way of life and traditions.

With Panama bordering both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, there are two very different but equally fascinating marine ecosystems to explore. Whether its swimming with sea turtles and sharks in Isla Coiba National Park or snorkelling through the colourful coral reefs of the Bocas del Toro or San Blas archipelagos, there is sure to be something to delight even the most experienced divers and snorkellers.
