Update on our Uganda Tours
- October 2023
We are deeply saddened by the recent, tragic attack in Uganda. Our hearts are with the victims and their loved ones during this difficult time. Out of respect and caution, Wildfoot Travel has taken the decision to pause all tours to Uganda for now.
Safety is, and will always be, our number one priority, and we hope to return responsibly when the situation allows.

Whales, including the Humpback, Minke and Orca, share their world with other cetaceans and pinnipeds, either native or migrating throughout the seasons. The prime time for whale watching is January to mid-March, but these magnificent creatures can be spotted throughout this polar region between late October and March, so you have plenty of scope when it comes to booking your Antarctica holiday. If whale watching is the prime focus of your trip, you can be certain that you won’t be disappointed. The Drake Passage and the Lemaire Channel are where the whales are most likely to grace your presence.
For a more intimate experience, and an encounter you will never forget, try cold water scuba. You can find out more about this region’s marine animals here.
Visit our whale watching page to learn more about this spectacular marine wildlife.
Storm-Petrels, Cormorants, Jaegers and Egrets are among the regular sightings, but penguins are the veritable highlight when it comes to birdlife. There are an astonishing 17 different species of penguin here, despite the fact that the Emperor and Adelie are the only real native birds from this polar region. If you hanker after an up close experience with these beguiling creatures, Wildfoot Travel has itineraries available for penguin watching, so speak to one of our experts for more information.
The best time of year to enjoy a birdwatching Antarctica holiday is during the mid-season, although the summer months in South Georgia are the time and place to see the glorious Albatrosses. If you’re keen to hone in on the nesting season, book your dates for the early season, but if you want to fulfill a dream of watching the native fledglings take their first flights, you are best to book for the latter half of the season. Find out more about the native birds here.
Your trip to the bottom of our wonderful world won’t disappoint. You can walk amongst thousands of nesting penguins and get up close and personal to nesting Albatross and other native birds. An expedition in this incredible part of our world is a birder’s haven.
The best time of year for birdwatching is earlier in the season, and the Falkland Islands and South Georgia are the perfect locations.
