Antarctica XXI

Antarctica XXI offers an alternative route for those who wish to avoid the sometimes stormy crossing of the Drake Passage or for those who are short of time but still seek an authentic Antarctic experience. Options include flights in either or both directions from Punta Arenas to King George Island in the South Shetlands. Where one crossing is included, it is to or from Ushuaia. Expeditions are all to the Antarctica Peninsula with two trips extending to the Polar Circle.

Is a single ship operator sailing in and out of Ushuaia. This Antarctic cruise ship offers good quality mid-range accommodation in twin cabins and suites only for a maximum of 84 passengers. This company does not offer any adventure options apart from standard zodiac landings and cruising. Expeditions are to the Antarctic Peninsula with Polar Circle options, Falklands & South Georgia and the Weddell Sea

An Australian operator offering a range of itineraries, including flight options from Punta Arenas in Chile to King George Island in the South Shetlands, thus avoiding one Drake Passage crossing or Santiago to Port Stanley in the Falklands. Adventure options include kayaking, scuba, climbing, etc. Expeditions cover the Antarctic Peninsula, with Polar Circle options, South Georgia and the Weddell Sea

is one of the best value operators, offering classic Antarctic itineraries on board a good, mid-range comfortable ship carrying just over 100 passengers. Apart from the first itinerary of the season, which embarks in Buenos Aires, all trips are from and to Ushuaia. Adventure options of kayaking and camping. Routes are to the Antarctic Peninsula, Polar Circle, Weddell Sea and Falklands - South Georgia

Hapag Lloyd

An established German luxury cruise company operating two, purpose-built expedition ships, which offer a 5 star onboard service without compromising the expedition experience of zodiac cruising, etc. One ship arrives in Antarctica from Cape Town via Tristan da Cunha and South Georgia. The other ship leaves Ushuaia at the end of the season and sails via the Ross Sea to New Zealand. Itineraries within Antarctica are on the Shackleton route in and out of Ushuaia.

A new American company, established in 2013 by a group of professionals with years of experience in operating ship-borne expeditions in the polar regions. The company is specialising in the upper end of the market and has taken on long lease the luxury Antarctic cruise ship Hebridean Sky, an ice-category ship which was previously known as Corinthian II. Operates to the Antarctic Peninsula, plus Falklands & South Georgia.

A French line with three Antarctic cruise ships, each a luxury, purpose built expedition vessel offering a five star experience with a French flavour without compromising the expedition experience.
