Home to the world’s second largest barrier reef, described by Charles Darwin as “the most remarkable reef in the West Indies”, Belize’s turquoise waters envelop a mosaic of nature’s finest art in the guise of some of the most fascinating corals. As you snorkel the coastline, the rainbow of colours that stretches out before you, interrupted only by the dazzlingly coloured fish, is nothing short of mesmerising.


The tropical rainforests divided by meandering rivers are home to abundant birdlife and, as you join your guide on one of the hikes in the Las Escobas Tropical Rainforest Park, you’ll look out for the resident parrots and toucans among the many other species that make this paradise their home. Another, somewhat more elusive species that you will have the opportunity to look out for is the jaguar. A visit to The Cockscomb Basin WIldlife Sanctuary, the first jaguar sanctuary in the world, can be included on these trips. There is nothing quite like spotting one of these most magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
