Ignite your wanderlust and explore the wonders of a life-changing South African adventure
Update on our Uganda Tours
- October 2023
We are deeply saddened by the recent, tragic attack in Uganda. Our hearts are with the victims and their loved ones during this difficult time. Out of respect and caution, Wildfoot Travel has taken the decision to pause all tours to Uganda for now.
Safety is, and will always be, our number one priority, and we hope to return responsibly when the situation allows.

Helping you build your perfect holiday
Choosing a self-drive option on a South Africa safari holiday is a fantastic way to explore. With excellent infrastructure and safe roads it’s easy to navigate and also breathtakingly scenic. You can pack most of the highlights into one trip, at your own pace. It’s road trip heaven!
Guided Tours and Safaris
If you’d rather sit back and soak up the scenery while someone else does all the driving, there are more than enough options for guided tours and packages. Many of these trips will combine safaris with visits to the winelands or urban centres.
Depending on how long you have, you may choose to visit either the west side or east side of the country. We recommend allowing time to discover both coasts, which can be done in one trip and also combined with other destinations including Victoria Falls, Botswana and Namibia.
Food and Drink
The country is renowned not only for its superb food and wine, but also for how affordable it is for visitors. You can experience traditional local flavours from a melting pot of cultures, world-class gourmet cuisine and superb home-grown wines.
When to Go
This really is an all-year-round destination, with lots to entertain you no matter when you go. But the very best time to visit is spring and autumn, when the weather is pleasantly mild and experiences like seeing the gorgeous wildflowers in bloom and whale watching are available.
Combine with Other Iconic Southern Africa Destinations
Many travellers combine a visit to other iconic destinations in southern Africa, including the ever-popular Victoria Falls. If wildlife is your main focus, you can visit nearby Botswana and Namibia to observe even more fascinating wildlife in contrasting habitats and landscapes.

But Kruger is not the only place to enjoy fantastic close-up wildlife encounters. You can also visit Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park, which is the oldest and only park under formal conservation in KwaZulu Natal where the Big Five dwell, and also Madikwe, which is very popular for photographic tours as it is lesser-known, less busy and offers more space for up-close wildlife shots. Within a few hours’ drive of the major cities there are also a number of smaller reserves, which may not have the draw of the big National Parks but still offer superb wildlife spotting opportunities, thrilling game drives and a wide array of accommodation.
There are also other, lesser-known wine regions that are well worth exploring, like Swartland, with its world-renowned independent winemakers, and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, near the beautiful coastal town of Hermanus.
