On this itinerary, we will spend time at Ilulissat, a World Heritage site, where we can watch the ice flowing into the bay. Combined with whale-watching and Inuit culture, this is an in-depth Greenlandic experience.

Arrive at the starting point of our expedition, the town of Kangerlussuaq. Kangerlussuaq is more or less only the airport. Though the Greenland ice cap “knocking at the door” of the town and colourful houses make it a special place.

In the afternoon you are welcomed aboard the luxury expedition ship M/V Sea Spirit. Explore the ship and get comfortable in your home away from home for the extraordinary adventure to come. Savor the anticipation of your Arctic dreams coming true as we slip our moorings and sail out of the picturesque fjord.

West Greenland

Over the next days, landings and excursions will be determined by ice and weather conditions. We expect to visit Sisimut, the country's second largest town with its excellent museum; Qeqertarsuaq on Disko Island where there is a distinctive octagonal church and lots of hiking options; Uummannaq and its spectacular fjord; the tidewater glacier of Eqip Sermia; Itilleq and the highlight of the coast, Ilulissat, where ice broken from the Jacobshavn Glacier flows swiftly down the fjord into Disko Bay.

Sea Spirit is a high-quality purpose-built Antarctica expedition ship with en-suite accommodation for up to 114 passengers. Recently refurbished, all suites and cabins have windows, satellite phone access, flat-screen TV and DVD player and king size or twin beds and a number also have private balconies. There is a passenger lift, spacious dining room, lounge, Polar library, bar, shop, gym and hot tub. The ship has plenty of open deck space and an open bridge policy. A 10mb communications access card is included in every voyage.
