Denpasar - Fly to Sorong

Arrive independently to Denpasar, the capital city of the province of Bali, and join your transfer to your group hotel for an included overnight stay. The rest of the day will be at your leisure, and an information desk will be available at the hotel should you have any questions about the arrangements for your upcoming adventure.

The following morning, after breakfast at the hotel, you will take your included charter flight to Sorong where your fantastic expedition ship will be waiting. After transferring to the port for embarkation, settle into your comfortable cabin, familiarise yourself with the ship, and enjoy your special Captain’s Welcome Dinner as we set sail for Raja Ampat.

Our first adventure will take us to the heart of the ‘Coral Triangle,’ as we enjoy an exploration of the magnificent Raja Ampat archipelago. This unforgettable gem is renowned for its unparalleled marine biodiversity, and the waters here are home to 600 species of hard coral and 1,500 types of fish – more than anywhere else in the world.

Explore the vibrant coral reefs, limestone formations, and lush rainforests of this breathtaking paradise as we reach Misool, a pristine corner of the archipelago which was established as a marine reserve in 2005 and offers unparalleled opportunities for exploration and adventure. Enjoy incredible snorkelling and diving here, hike to the summit of Dafalen Peak for breathtaking panoramic views, discover the island's rich cultural heritage through ancient rock art sites, or simply relax in the crystal-clear waters surrounded by spectacular scenery.

We now arrive at Buru Island, where your journey begins with an exciting Zodiac ride to Tomahu Island, where you'll be greeted with a warm cultural welcome. Immerse yourself in the vibrant traditions of Pasir Putih village, experiencing the local way of life. Next, we’ll head to Fogi Island to uncover its stunning underwater world. Snorkellers and divers can explore the colourful coral reefs that are home to turtles, seahorses, and a dazzling variety of fish. Kayakers can enjoy paddling through serene waterways lined with lush mangroves. If you prefer relaxation, unwind on the island’s pristine beaches, basking in the sun and taking in the surrounding natural beauty. Wakatobi National Park, Southeast Sulawesi

Today’s adventures take us to Wakatobi, a UNESCO-protected marine sanctuary that is a haven for marine enthusiasts, with an astonishing diversity of life beneath its waters. The archipelago is home to 750 of the world's 850 coral species and 942 species of fish, making it a premier destination for diving and snorkelling. Discover the breathtaking coral reefs, alive with vibrant colours and exotic marine creatures. For those seeking land-based activities, Hoga Island offers a tranquil retreat. Take a guided nature walk to explore the island’s unique flora and fauna, or unwind on its pristine beaches. Birdwatchers will also delight in searching for both resident and migratory bird species.

It’s time for more underwater wonders as we make our way to Taka Bonerate National Park, situated south of Sulawesi, which is another marine wonderland celebrated for its rich biodiversity. As the third-largest atoll system in the world, it features crystal-clear waters filled with thriving marine life. Dive into the vibrant coral reefs, home to an incredible variety of fish.

At the heart of the park lies Tinabo Island, where visitors can experience local culture and take part in conservation efforts like tree planting, coral restoration, or releasing turtles. Nature lovers can enjoy guided walks to explore the island’s distinctive flora and fauna, while birdwatchers can spot various bird species. The surrounding waters offer a stunning array of marine ecosystems, from barrier reefs to dramatic drop-offs, perfect for underwater exploration.

Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park

These next two days may be a highlight for many as we make our way to the magnificent Komodo National Park. Established in 1980, the park safeguards the iconic Komodo dragon and its habitat. These next two days will offer the unique opportunity to observe these prehistoric creatures as you enjoy guided walks through the spectacular open woodland.

Another highlight will be the region’s famous Pink Beach which is a stunning stretch of coastline that is renowned for its unique rosy hue, snorkelling opportunities and breathtaking views. You could also enjoy a walk to the ranger station or a hike in search of the island's rich birdlife.

During our time here we may also explore the fabulous Gili Lawa Island where diving and snorkelling opportunities abound. Explore hidden coves on exciting Zodiac cruises, join the expedition team on an unforgettable underwater adventure in Manta Alley to see majestic manta rays in their natural habitat, or simply relax on the pristine beaches soaking up the incredible surroundings and tranquil atmosphere.

It’s time for another bucket list experience as we arrive at the hidden gem of Saleh Bay, nestled on the island of Sumbawa, for the unique opportunity to swim alongside whale sharks in their natural habitat. Swimming with these majestic gentle giants in these pristine waters surrounded by stunning scenery is a truly unforgettable experience. Your expedition will adhere to strict guidelines to ensure minimal disturbance to these magnificent animals. By observing these guidelines and maintaining a respectful distance, you can contribute to their conservation while enjoying incredibly special encounters. Please note that sightings can never be guaranteed, but the chances are high here.

Sumbawa Island

As the day begins, your ship anchors off the pristine shores of Kencana Beach near Badas, Sumbawa Island. Disembark via Zodiac for a wet beach landing, where friendly local guides welcome you and introduce you to the island’s rich cultural and natural heritage. A short walk leads to your waiting coaches for a scenic drive to Pamulung Village, where villagers greet you warmly at the entrance. Strolling through the village, you’ll observe daily life, admire the earthquake-resistant pole-style houses, and engage in conversations with the locals, learning about their traditions and the medicinal plants they have used for generations.

The journey continues with a visit to the historic Dalam Loka Old Palace, an architectural masterpiece built in 1885 by Sultan Muhammad Jalaluddin Syah III, showcasing the grandeur of the Sumbawa Sultanate. Nearby, the Bala Kuning Palace, once home to Sultan Muhammad Kaharuddin III, offers a glimpse into the island’s royal history. Its striking yellow façade symbolises the sultanate’s legacy, while the interior holds a fascinating collection of heirlooms, including royal attire, weaponry, and a hand-written Al-Quran from 1784. After a day immersed in history and culture, return to Kencana Beach, where your Zodiacs await to ferry you back to your ship, bringing a memorable day of exploration to a close.

At Sea & Kumai, Central Kalimantan, Borneo

After a relaxing morning at sea, by late afternoon we will arrive in Kumai, in the heart of Central Kalimantan, where you will be greeted by the iconic sight of Borneo’s lush rainforest. This evening offers a memorable experience as we enjoy a wonderful nocturnal adventure gliding down the tranquil waters of the Sekonyer River to immerse ourselves in the magic of nighttime in the jungle, keeping a watchful eye for elusive creatures and soaking up the rhythmic symphony of the jungle, punctuated by the twinkling lights of fireflies among the nipa palms.

Tanjung Puting National Park
12 - 13Days

Tanjung Puting National Park

Another bucket list experience is on the cards over the next 2 days as we take an unforgettable adventure through the lush rainforests of Tanjung Puting National Park to search for its diverse range of wildlife, including the iconic endangered orangutan. We will step aboard a traditional Klotok houseboat to enjoy another memorable cruise along the Sekonyer River, this time during the bustling wildlife-filled daytime hours, to search for a kaleidoscope of birdlife along with proboscis monkeys, gibbons and much more.

Then it’s time for the extraordinary opportunity to observe orangutans in their natural habitat as you visit the famous Pondok Tanggui Rehabilitation Centre to learn all about the vital conservation efforts in place and the dedicated work carried out to protect these magnificent creatures. For a deeper understanding of the challenges faced here, we may also visit the Pesalat Conservation Education Centre.

Arriving by Zodiac at Tanjung Kelayang Beach, you’ll be greeted by Belitung’s stunning white sands and clear waters. A short drive leads to a breathtaking coastal site where massive granite boulders, sculpted over millennia, rise dramatically from the turquoise sea, creating an unforgettable backdrop for exploration and photography.

Next, immerse yourself in Belitung’s rich culture with a visit to Tanjung Pandan. Here, the Melayu people welcome you with the traditional “Sekapur Sirih” ceremony, a heartfelt greeting featuring graceful dancers and a symbolic betel nut offering. This vibrant experience offers a deep connection to the island’s heritage and traditions.

15 - 16Days

At Sea & Disembark in Singapore

Day 15 will be spent relaxing at sea as we sail towards Singapore. Spend time collating the multiple pictures you are likely to have taken, sharing stories with your fellow travellers or attending the last of the informative talks delivered by your team of experts.

We will arrive in Singapore in the early morning of day 16 and upon disembarkation a transfer will be provided to the airport for your onward or homeward travels. Should you wish to extend your stay in this wonderful city, we will be happy to make arrangements for you.
