Kangerlussuatsiaq Fjord (Evighedsfjorden)
2Day

Kangerlussuatsiaq Fjord (Evighedsfjorden)

Your first adventure will see you experience the breathtaking beauty of Kangerlussuatsiaq Fjord, known in Danish as Evighedsfjorden, the “fjord of eternity” for its vast, dramatic expanse. Sail through this remote waterway, surrounded by towering mountains, thundering waterfalls, and cliffs teeming with birdlife, as you witness the raw power of calving glaciers.

Venture closer to the glacier’s edge on a Zodiac cruise, where the relatively mild waters, warmed by the West Greenland Current, make for a smooth and awe-inspiring journey. This is a chance to immerse yourself in one of Greenland’s most stunning and dynamic natural environments and the perfect introduction to your unforgettable Arctic cruise.

Nuuk

Nuuk

We now make our way to Nuuk, Greenland’s vibrant capital and the world’s northernmost capital city. Nestled at the mouth of a vast fjord system, Nuuk offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. Founded in 1728 as Greenland’s first town, it remains the country’s energetic hub. While exploring, you may spot humpback whales in the fjord, reindeer roaming nearby, and seabirds soaring above. The city is home to notable landmarks such as the University of Greenland, a cathedral dating back to 1849, and the renowned Greenland National Museum.

Join a guided orientation of this fascinating city and visit the National Museum, where the famous Qilakitsoq mummies are preserved. Afterwards, enjoy time to explore Nuuk at your own pace.

Through these interactions, deepen your appreciation for the vibrant culture and the breathtaking landscapes we explore.

We also recommend spending some time on deck, binoculars in hand, waiting for sightings of the minke and humpback whales and bountiful seabirds that are regularly spotted along this route.

Ungava Bay/Akpatok Island
5 - 6Days

Ungava Bay/Akpatok Island

As we arrive in the heart of Arctic Canada, our first exploration will take us to the remote and uninhabited Akpatok Island, the largest island in Ungava Bay, spanning over 900 square kilometres. Named after the akpait (thick-billed murres) that nest along its towering cliffs, the island hosts Canada’s largest colony of these striking seabirds.

Over the next 2 days you can embark on Zodiac cruises to navigate the shoreline and nearby ice, keeping watch for polar bears, walruses, and a host of other Arctic wildlife. Ungava Bay’s large, shallow waters support a rich ecosystem, including an endangered population of beluga whales, making this a remarkable destination for nature enthusiasts.

 Ungava Peninsula, QC

Ungava Peninsula, QC

We now journey across the treeless tundra of the Ungava Peninsula in Nunavik, where vast open landscapes meet rich geological history and vibrant ecosystems. Immerse yourself in this unique environment as Inuit cultural educators share their deep knowledge and connection to the land, offering a perspective that is both moving and memorable.

Enjoy guided hikes and Zodiac cruises with your expert expedition team, who will enrich your experience with fascinating insights into the region’s flora, fauna, and geology. Discover traditional and contemporary craftsmanship, with a chance to browse and purchase locally made items such as carvings, jewellery, and hand-sewn mittens. Experience the warmth of the community during a special gathering in the local hall, where stories, customs, and daily life are shared with pride.

Enhance your visit with a scenic hike through Salluit’s rugged terrain, taking in the breathtaking landscape while deepening your appreciation for the enduring connection between the land and its people.

Kinngait (Cape Dorset)

Kinngait (Cape Dorset)

Discover the renowned artistic heritage of Kinngait (Cape Dorset), celebrated worldwide as a hub of Inuit art. Visit the studios at the heart of this creative community and meet the talented artists, carvers, and printmakers, both seasoned and emerging, who uphold Kinngait’s reputation as a centre of fine art.

Enjoy the opportunity to view and purchase unique, handcrafted works, each piece a reflection of the region’s rich cultural expression. Learn about Kinngait’s pivotal role in the Inuit art movement, which began in 1959 with the founding of the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative, the oldest professional Inuit printmaking studio in Canada.

Hudson Strait

Step out on deck with the expedition team as we spend two days navigating the icy, fast-moving waters of the Hudson Strait, a prime location for Arctic wildlife viewing and unforgettable photography.
