Fly to Churchill

This morning, board your private charter flight bound for Churchill, a welcoming northern outpost with deep roots as a Hudson’s Bay Company fur trading hub, and one of the world’s finest destinations for observing polar bears. This remote frontier town will serve as your base for exploring the surrounding wild Arctic landscape.

For those on the 6-day itinerary, your first foray onto the tundra begins this evening aboard a custom-built Polar Rover, offering your first thrilling opportunity to spot polar bears in their natural habitat. Sometimes we may even spot them before leaving the airport!

Guests on the 7-day journey will kick things off with a captivating evening presentation led by expert naturalists, offering insights into polar bear behaviour and the unique subarctic environment that surrounds you.

The adventure has truly begun.

Due to limited hotel space in Churchill, accommodations are provided across a range of small local properties, which vary in room size, amenities, and services, though all offer clean, comfortable stays with private bathrooms.

Polar Bear Viewing
3 - 4Days

Polar Bear Viewing

Over the next two days, the true magic of the tundra comes to light as we set out aboard the specially designed Polar Rover, an all-terrain vehicle built to navigate the frozen landscape in comfort and safety. Though capable of holding over 30 people, groups are limited to just 16 guests, ensuring everyone has a window seat, ample space, and an unforgettable front-row view of the Arctic wilderness.

Each autumn, polar bears gather along the shores of Hudson Bay, waiting patiently for the sea ice to return so the seal hunt can begin. With the guidance of your expert Expedition Leaders, who know the terrain intimately, you will venture into prime bear-viewing territory. From the Rover’s elevated outdoor platform, you may spot a mother and her cubs making their way across the snow-dusted ground, young males sparring in mock battles, or a solitary bear moving slowly across the vast white silence.

Then, a moment that takes your breath away, one of these Arctic giants approaches. From just feet away, you lock eyes as he sniffs the air, rises to his full height, and gazes back with quiet curiosity. In that stillness, the world around disappears, and all that remains is the magic of sharing space with one of the planet’s most powerful predators.

Each evening, we return to town for a hearty dinner and engaging presentations that deepen our understanding of polar bear behaviour, the surrounding wildlife, and the rich cultures of the North.

Exploring Churchill / Evening on the Tundra
5Day

Exploring Churchill / Evening on the Tundra

For guests on the 7-day itinerary, today offers a deeper dive into Churchill’s fascinating past. Discover this storied northern town on a guided tour that takes in landmarks like Cape Merry, with scenic views over Hudson Bay. As we follow the coastal road, keep an eye out for Arctic foxes and hares. If there’s snow on the ground, their white coats make them almost invisible against the landscape.

As evening falls, we venture back onto the tundra for another unforgettable experience: polar bear viewing under the Arctic night sky. Dinner is served aboard the Polar Rover, giving you more time in bear country while enjoying a meal in the wild. If conditions are right and the skies stay clear, we may be treated to a breathtaking display of the northern lights. Slowly emerging as a faint glow on the horizon, the aurora often builds into rippling ribbons of green, and sometimes even shades of red or violet, for an unforgettable natural performance far from city lights.

Travellers on the 6-day itinerary have already had their nighttime tundra excursion on day 2 and can enjoy a relaxed day in Churchill, with optional activities including a scenic helicopter flight over the vast frozen wilderness before returning to Winnipeg.

Dog Sledding / Fly to Winnipeg
6 - 7Days

Dog Sledding / Fly to Winnipeg

Before we bid farewell to the North, there’s still time to soak up a few last adventures in Churchill. One of the day’s highlights is an unforgettable dog sledding experience. After meeting a seasoned local musher and their enthusiastic team of sled dogs, you’ll have a chance to ride behind them through the serene boreal forest, offering an exhilarating nod to traditional northern travel.

Depending on timing and interests, you may also wish to browse local shops for handmade Arctic crafts or opt for an aerial perspective with an optional helicopter tour over the frozen tundra.

We’ll gather for a farewell lunch to reflect on our time together, sharing stories and memories before boarding your afternoon flight back to Winnipeg. There, a final reception marks the end of your northern adventure, one filled with awe, discovery, and unforgettable encounters with the wild.

Enjoy an overnight stay at the Fort Garry Hotel before checking out after breakfast on day 7 and transferring to the airport for your onward or homeward flight.
