Herds of wildlife gather at waterholes in the dry months, while rains invite flamingos and a kaleidoscope of birdlife. Bordering this natural wonder, Etosha Heights boasts 60,000 hectares of pristine wilderness and is renowned for its thriving populations of black and white rhino. In the company of an experienced ranger, you’ll explore some of its 60,000 hectares of pristine wilderness, home to an extraordinary diversity of species. Etosha Heights To Damaraland
3Day

Etosha Heights To Damaraland

After breakfast, your journey continues on to Damaraland, the dramatic heart of Namibia. Travelling through farmlands and rural towns on your guided drive, the scenery gradually unfolds into a land of rugged beauty defined by flat-topped mountains, striking rock formations, and otherworldly vegetation. Shaped over millennia by wind, water, and geological forces, the landscape of rolling hills, gravel plains, dunes, and ancient river terraces embodies the very essence of wilderness. Enjoy a delicious Magic Box picnic enroute, before arriving in time for sundowners by the fire at your next destination, Camp Doros. While it is a long day of travel, the reward is settling into this extraordinary region for a three-night stay.

Damaraland’s Doros Joint Management Area offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the region, with semi-arid savannahs, wooded river valleys, and rugged mountain views. Natural springs sustain a wealth of desert-adapted wildlife, including elephant, black rhino, kudu, oryx, and giraffe, alongside predators such as leopard, cheetah, and hyena. Camp Doros, perched on a high riverbank shaded by mopane trees, blends seamlessly into its wild surroundings, providing an intimate base from which to explore this untamed landscape. Here, the remoteness, silence, and raw natural beauty create an authentic connection with Namibia’s wilderness.

Damaraland - Black Rhino Tracking
4Day

Damaraland - Black Rhino Tracking

This morning offers one of the most unforgettable highlights of your safari, tracking free-roaming black rhino alongside skilled local trackers. These rare, desert-adapted rhino are part of the last truly wild population in Africa, living unfenced and uninhibited in the rugged landscapes of northwestern Namibia. Searching for them in their natural habitat is both a privilege and a powerful conservation experience. After a morning in the field, you’ll return to Camp Doros for a freshly prepared lunch and some time to relax in the midday heat, surrounded by the tranquillity of Damaraland.

In the afternoon, you set out once more on a guided nature drive or walk, uncovering more of the vast, breathtaking ecosystem that supports this remarkable population. Camp Doros works closely with Save the Rhino Trust, a pioneering NGO that has helped Namibia’s black rhino numbers recover from near devastation in the 1980s and 1990s. These desert rhinos are unique in their ability to survive in arid conditions. Their resilience and survival against the odds make every sighting extraordinary, offering you a rare glimpse into one of Africa’s most inspiring conservation success stories.

 Damaraland - Desert Adapted Elephants
5Day

Damaraland - Desert Adapted Elephants

Today is another day devoted to exploring the raw beauty of Damaraland with your private naturalist guide, travelling both by vehicle and on foot through some of Namibia’s most dramatic landscapes. This rugged wilderness is home to a surprising variety of desert-adapted wildlife, from giraffe and springbok to oryx and even predators like lion. As with all safaris in Namibia, sightings can never be guaranteed, but the thrill lies in the journey itself, searching across vast, unfenced tracts of wilderness where animals roam freely and the landscape itself tells the story of resilience and survival.

The highlight of today is tracking the elusive desert-adapted elephants that move through the ephemeral river systems, covering great distances in search of food and water. Spending most of the day in the field, you’ll enjoy a delicious picnic lunch surrounded by Damaraland’s striking scenery before returning to camp in the late afternoon. With its sense of remoteness and untouched splendour, each moment spent in this extraordinary ecosystem offers a deeper connection to the wild heart of Namibia.

Damaraland To Swakopmund

Tonight, you’ll stay at Desert Breeze Lodge on the town’s edge, overlooking the Swakop River valley and sweeping desert dunes, with dinner included at a popular local restaurant specialising in fresh seafood.

With its blend of German colonial architecture, modern cafés, galleries, and shops, Swakopmund exudes old-world charm in a unique desert-meets-sea setting. Once a 19th-century German landing station, it has grown into Namibia’s premier coastal resort, offering a mix of history, culture, and seaside relaxation. Though the Atlantic waters are cool, the beaches and fresh coastal air make this a delightful stop on your journey.

Arriving by mid to late afternoon, there’s time to settle in, refresh with a hot bucket shower, and relax before dinner under the desert sky.

Camp Sossus lies within the Namib Tsaris Conservancy, framed by the Nubib and Zaris Mountains and only a short drive from the world-famous Sossusvlei dunes and the vast Namib Sand Sea, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Established in 2010 as a conservation buffer zone, the conservancy provides crucial refuge for wildlife in this arid region, making it both a spectacular and meaningful place to end your journey.
