Our popularitinerary Suggestions

All our itinerary holidays are fully customisable

Darwin - Embark
1Day

Darwin - Embark

Your journey through Australia’s wild northwest begins in Darwin, the tropical capital of the Northern Territory, affectionately known as the “Top End.” Having arrived independently, in the afternoon you will board your luxurious ship and settle in as your Kimberley adventure begins, setting the stage for an extraordinary voyage through one of Australia’s most remote and awe-inspiring regions.

You may wish to spend some time in Darwin before embarkation to explore a little of this vibrant city that is shaped by its multicultural spirit and blends laid-back charm with a rich and resilient history. Highlights include the striking Parliament House, a showcase of modern tropical architecture, and Admiralty House, a heritage gem that has weathered cyclones and wartime air raids.

King George River
2Day

King George River

Today marks your first taste of the Kimberley’s grandeur as you journey along the King George River, one of the region’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders. Towering 80-metre sandstone cliffs rise dramatically on either side, their colours shifting from ochre to deep red as the light moves across the gorge. Travel by Zodiac or ship’s tender through this ancient landscape, where every curve of the canyon reveals new textures and shades carved over millennia. The voyage culminates at the magnificent King George twin falls, the highest in the Kimberley, where water plunges down sheer rock faces into the gorge below creating a breathtaking finale to an unforgettable day of exploration.

Vansittart Bay
3Day

Vansittart Bay

Today’s adventure takes you to Vansittart Bay, home to one of the Kimberley’s most remarkable cultural treasures, the Gwion Gwion rock art of Jar Island. Believed to be more than 30,000 years old, these intricate paintings are among the oldest detailed depictions of human figures in existence, offering a profound connection to the region’s earliest seafaring peoples. Accompanied by your Expedition Team, step ashore for a short walk through rugged sandstone formations to reach these extraordinary ancient galleries. As you stand before the ochre-painted figures, you’ll glimpse the enduring spirit and artistry of the Kimberley’s first inhabitants and experience a timeless reminder of the land’s deep and living heritage.

Ashmore Reef (technical stop)
4Day

Ashmore Reef (technical stop)

Today brings a visit to the remote Ashmore Reef, a pristine marine sanctuary lying 600 kms north of Broome on the edge of Australia’s continental shelf. Comprising three small coral islands surrounded by vibrant reef, this protected area is recognised as an Important Bird Area (IBA) for its significant seabird colonies and diverse marine life. As access to the reef is strictly controlled to preserve its fragile ecosystems, this stop primarily serves as a technical call in accordance with Australian regulations. However, weather and sea conditions permitting, you may have the rare opportunity to join a Zodiac excursion near West Island, offering a glimpse of this untouched and remote natural wonder.

Careening Bay
5Day

Careening Bay

Step ashore today at Careening Bay, a place steeped in maritime history and timeless natural beauty. It was here in 1820 that Lieutenant Phillip Parker King beached his vessel HMC Mermaid to make vital repairs during his charting of Australia’s north-west coast. Over ten arduous days, King and his crew worked along these sandy shores, leaving behind a lasting mark of their presence in the now-famous Mermaid Boab Tree, inscribed with the ship’s name and the year of their visit. Today, this majestic, heritage-listed tree stands more than three metres wide and is a living monument to early exploration and endurance in one of Australia’s most remote frontiers.

Swift Bay
6Day

Swift Bay

Today, explore the remote beauty of Swift Bay, set within the magnificent Bonaparte Archipelago, a labyrinth of islands and ancient sandstone formations that stretch for nearly 150 kms along the Kimberley coast. Named by Phillip Parker King in honour of Gulliver’s Travels author Jonathan Swift, this striking ‘T’-shaped bay is defined by its rugged cliffs and hidden rock shelters, where the walls reveal the stories of Australia’s First Peoples. Accompanied by your Expedition Team, step ashore to discover Wandjina and Gwion Gwion rock art, whose intricate forms and vivid colours have endured for thousands of years.

Hunter River
7Day

Hunter River

Today unfolds in one of the Kimberley’s most breathtaking landscapes, the Hunter River and Prince Frederick Harbour. Here towering sandstone cliffs, lush pockets of rainforest, and intricate mangrove systems create a scene of untamed beauty. These waterways are among the most pristine mangrove ecosystems in the world, home to an extraordinary array of wildlife, from vibrant bird species to the formidable saltwater crocodile. Explore by Zodiac with your expert Expedition Team, gliding through narrow channels beneath the striking Kampamantiya escarpment, which rises more than 200 metres above the river mouth. For a truly unforgettable perspective, you may also choose an optional helicopter flight to the majestic Mitchell Falls, where tiered cascades tumble through the ancient sandstone.

Collier Bay
8 - 9Days

Collier Bay

Over the next two days, immerse yourself in the raw power and ancient beauty of Collier Bay, where the Kimberley’s dramatic tides shape an ever-changing seascape. With tidal ranges of up to 14 metres, these waters are among the most extreme on Earth, carving deep channels, sculpting rock formations, and creating natural spectacles found nowhere else.

At the heart of the bay lies Montgomery Reef, the world’s largest inshore reef system. As the tide recedes, torrents of seawater cascade from its flat top, revealing coral platforms alive with turtles, rays, and reef birds. To the south, Talbot Bay is home to the legendary Horizontal Falls, a powerful tidal phenomenon famously described by Sir David Attenborough as “one of the greatest wonders of the natural world.” Hidden within nearby caves and sandstone escarpments are ancient Wandjina and Gwion Gwion rock art galleries, connecting this dynamic landscape to its deep cultural roots.

Every experience here is shaped by the tides and the weather and provides a reminder that in the Kimberley, nature always leads the way.

Lacepede Islands
10Day

Lacepede Islands

Your final full day in the Kimberley brings you to the remote Lacepede Islands, a wildlife sanctuary of global significance. These low-lying coral islands are Western Australia’s most important breeding ground for green turtles and have been recognised by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area (IBA). Here, vast colonies of seabirds thrive including what is believed to be the world’s largest population of brown boobies, along with masked boobies, frigatebirds, pelicans, and roseate terns by the tens of thousands.

Join your Expedition Team for a guided Zodiac tour to witness this remarkable abundance of life up close. From the water, you’ll observe the islands’ teeming bird colonies and perhaps spot turtles surfacing nearby, all while ensuring the fragile ecosystem remains undisturbed. It’s a fitting finale to our exploration of the Kimberley’s untamed beauty and the life that flourishes where land and sea meet.

Broome - Disembark
11Day

Broome - Disembark

This morning, your unforgettable Kimberley expedition comes to an end as you arrive in the historic coastal town of Broome. After an early breakfast on board, disembark and meet your local representative at the port for your group transfer to the airport or a local hotel.
