Keflavik to Kangerlussuaq
1 - 2Days

Keflavik to Kangerlussuaq

Your journey begins with an overnight stay in Reykjavík, giving you a chance to settle in and enjoy the world’s northernmost capital before heading west towards Greenland. The following day, an included flight from Keflavik takes you across the North Atlantic to Kangerlussuaq, a remote settlement set at the head of a long, deep fjord and surrounded by vast Arctic wilderness.

Once a former WWII airbase, Kangerlussuaq is now best known as one of Greenland’s key gateways to the ice sheet, with a starkly beautiful landscape of tundra, glacial valleys and wide-open skies. Wildlife is abundant here, and before boarding your expedition ship and setting sail, there is every chance to appreciate the sense of space and solitude that defines this remarkable corner of West Greenland, where muskoxen, reindeer and Arctic foxes roam.

Evigheds Glacier
3Day

Evigheds Glacier

Our first Greenland adventure will take us to the magnificent Evigheds Glacier, also known as Eternity Glacier. Carved by immense forces over countless centuries, Evigheds Glacier spills into a narrow fjord hemmed in by steep granite cliffs, creating one of West Greenland’s most striking icy landscapes. Here, the meeting of glacier, rock and sea feels especially dramatic, with great walls of ice descending towards the water and a wilderness atmosphere that is both raw and deeply serene.

This is a place defined by movement and sound, where the silence can suddenly be broken by the crack of calving ice as huge fragments break free and drift out into the fjord. All around, the surrounding tundra and coastal waters support a rich variety of Arctic wildlife, while seabirds wheel overhead and the distant groan of the glacier adds to the sense of being in a remote and elemental world.

Qeqertarsuaq
4Day

Qeqertarsuaq

Today brings a call at Qeqertarsuaq, the largest settlement on Disko Island, where brightly painted houses sit beneath dark volcanic peaks and the icy backdrop of Lyngemark Glacier. This is one of West Greenland’s most distinctive landscapes, shaped by ancient volcanic forces into a terrain of red basalt mountains, striking rock formations, black sand shores and gently rolling valleys. Its comparatively mild conditions also support an unusual richness of plant life, adding another layer of contrast to this dramatic Arctic setting.

During your included excursion, explore the characterful town itself, with time to discover its history and culture through the local museum and historic church, before wandering the colourful streets at a relaxed pace. For those seeking a deeper connection with the island, optional experiences offer the chance either to learn about Greenland’s enduring sled dog traditions with a local guide or to head out on a scenic hike through basalt landscapes and summer flora, with wide views across Disko Bay where icebergs, seabirds and even whales may sometimes be seen. Please note that optional excursions should be booked in advance and will be at an additional cost.

Itilleq
5Day

Itilleq

Today you visit remote Itilleq, a small island settlement just north of the Arctic Circle, where brightly painted houses line the waterfront against a backdrop of mountains, glaciers and the open waters of the Davis Strait. Reached only by weekly ferry or helicopter, this former trading post retains a strong sense of isolation and community, shaped by fishing, hunting and the rhythms of daily Arctic life.

Your included excursion offers an engaging introduction to local culture, with time spent enjoying Greenlandic traditions through food, music and heritage experiences in the Old Museum area. Sample local delicacies in a tasting tent, listen to traditional songs and gain insight into the importance of sled dogs through a Greenland Dog Adventure. Birdlife adds another layer to the experience, with species such as snow buntings, kittiwakes and guillemots often seen around the settlement and its rugged shoreline.

At Sea
6Day

At Sea

A day at sea offers a different but equally rewarding part of the expedition, as you leave Greenland behind and sail west towards Canada across the vast waters of the Davis Strait. With nothing but sea and sky stretching to the horizon, this is a chance to slow the pace, absorb the scale of the journey and reflect on the remarkable landscapes and communities you have already encountered.

Life on board is rarely idle, with plenty of opportunities to make the most of your time at sea. Take in the ever-changing views from the observation decks, browse the ship’s well-stocked library or swap stories with fellow travellers as the voyage unfolds. You may also choose to join one of the expert-led lectures or pick up practical tips from the onboard photography team, adding even more depth to your Arctic experience.

Iqaluit, NU
7Day

Iqaluit, NU

Today you arrive in Arctic Canada, calling at Iqaluit, the remote capital of Nunavut, set at the head of the vast Frobisher Bay. This is a place where Inuit culture remains deeply woven into everyday life, and where the surrounding landscape offers a powerful sense of connection to the history, traditions and resilience of the North. It is also one of our favourite places for watching the northern lights, with the dark Arctic skies and remote setting creating superb conditions for witnessing this unforgettable natural spectacle.

Included sightseeing ashore introduces the community and its heritage, from the rich collection of Inuit art at Nunatta Sunakkutaangit Museum to the wider cultural stories that shape life in the Canadian Arctic. Beyond the town, the surrounding area also reveals traces of much earlier settlement, including the ancient Thule site of Crystal II near Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park. With its blend of living culture, deep history and exceptional night skies, Iqaluit makes a memorable first stop in Arctic Canada.

Lady Franklin Island
8Day

Lady Franklin Island

Today’s adventures bring you to the wild and uninhabited landscapes of Lady Franklin Island, lying off the Hall Peninsula on Baffin Island. Best known for its towering vertical cliffs of Archean rock, thought to be among the oldest stones in Canada, this remote island is a place of stark beauty, where ancient geology meets the icy waters of the Davis Strait in dramatic fashion.

The surrounding environment is rich in Arctic wildlife, making this a rewarding day for nature lovers. Black guillemots, ptarmigan and gulls nest among the rocky slopes, while walrus can often be seen hauled out to the south on Monumental Island, an area also known as an important denning site for polar bears. Nearby Cumberland Sound adds to the spectacle, with the possibility of spotting its distinctive population of beluga whales in these remote northern waters.

Cruising Torngat Mountains National Park
9Day

Cruising Torngat Mountains National Park

Today you cruise through one of the most remote and awe-inspiring corners of the Canadian Arctic, as the dramatic landscapes of Torngat Mountains National Park unfold around you. Here, mountains rise steeply from the sea and immense fjords cut deep into the coastline, creating a wilderness shaped over millennia by ice, wind and water. It is a place of immense scale and stillness, where the raw beauty of the Arctic feels both powerful and humbling.

As the ship sails into Nachvak Fjord, sheer cliffs, pristine waters and vast open skies combine to create an unforgettable sense of isolation and grandeur. This remarkable region is also deeply connected to Inuit heritage, adding cultural depth to its extraordinary scenery. Cruising through these wild northern landscapes offers a rare opportunity to experience one of North America’s last true wilderness areas in complete comfort.

Nain & At Sea
10 - 11Days

Nain & At Sea

Today you visit Nain, the northernmost community in Labrador and an important cultural centre of Nunatsiavut, the Inuit region of Labrador. Set between rugged mountains and the cold waters of the Labrador Sea, Nain has a strikingly remote setting, with dramatic coastal scenery and wide northern skies reinforcing the sense of being in one of Canada’s true frontier communities.

Life here remains closely tied to Inuit heritage, with local traditions expressed through art, music, storytelling and a deep connection to the land and sea. A visit to Nain offers valuable insight into a community shaped by resilience, history and Arctic nature, where culture and landscape are woven tightly together.

The following day will be spent relaxing at sea.

L’Anse aux Meadows
12Day

L’Anse aux Meadows

Today you step into one of the most fascinating chapters of North American history at L’Anse aux Meadows, on the northern tip of Newfoundland. This remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site is the first and only authenticated Norse settlement in the Americas, believed to date back around 1,000 years and linked to the voyages of Leif Erikson. Surrounded by windswept coastline, the site offers a compelling glimpse into the world of the earliest European explorers to reach these shores.

Your included excursion brings this history vividly to life, with a guided visit through the restored settlement where sod houses, archaeological remains and artefacts reveal how the Norse once lived and worked in this remote outpost. You will also visit Norstead, a recreated Viking village that deepens the experience with insights into seafaring, craftsmanship and daily life in these harsh northern lands. Walking in the footsteps of the Vikings here is both atmospheric and memorable, adding a powerful historical dimension to your journey.

Bonne Bay
13Day

Bonne Bay

Your penultimate stop brings you to explore the beautiful surroundings of Bonne Bay, a tranquil inlet within Gros Morne National Park, where dramatic cliffs, forested slopes and calm waters create one of Newfoundland’s most memorable landscapes. Centred on the communities of Norris Point and Woody Point, this area combines natural beauty with a rich cultural heritage shaped by fishing, fur trading and generations of settlers from England, Ireland and Scotland.

Your included excursion focuses on the extraordinary Tablelands, one of Gros Morne’s most famous features and a key reason for its UNESCO World Heritage status. Here, rare ancient mantle rock lies exposed at the Earth’s surface, creating an otherworldly landscape unlike anywhere else in Canada. A visit to the Discovery Centre adds further insight into the park’s geology, wildlife and history, while optional experiences offer the chance to discover more of Gros Morne’s north coast or take a spectacular boat tour through the fjord-like scenery of Western Brook Pond. Please note that optional excursions should be booked in advance and will be at an additional cost.

At Sea
14Day

At Sea

Your final day at sea offers a chance to slow down and savour the closing stages of the voyage as the ship sails south towards Halifax. After days filled with Arctic landscapes, Inuit communities, Viking history and Newfoundland’s dramatic coastlines, this is a welcome moment to reflect on the remarkable range of places and experiences gathered along the way.

Halifax - Disembark
15Day

Halifax - Disembark

Your journey comes to an end in Halifax, the lively capital of Nova Scotia and one of Canada’s great maritime cities. Set around a picturesque natural harbour, Halifax blends a rich seafaring heritage with a vibrant modern atmosphere, offering an appealing mix of historic character, waterfront energy and Atlantic charm. After disembarkation, there may be time to take in some of the city’s highlights, from the iconic Citadel and bustling boardwalk to its welcoming neighbourhoods and renowned seafood scene.
