Your Patagonian adventure begins in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city. On arrival, you will be warmly welcomed at the airport and transferred to a premium hotel set amid the spectacular landscapes of Tierra del Fuego, with time to settle in and relax after your journey.

The remainder of the day is yours to spend at leisure, perhaps exploring Ushuaia’s colourful streets and dramatic waterfront. This evening, you may also join an optional briefing to meet your fellow travellers, ask any questions and learn more about the exciting voyage ahead.

Ushuaia - Embark
2Day

Ushuaia - Embark

Enjoy a leisurely morning in Ushuaia, with time to relax at the hotel, browse the city’s shops or visit one of its fascinating museums. In the mid-afternoon, you will be escorted to the ship, where the Expedition Team and crew will welcome you aboard and help you settle into your cabin.

Following a safety briefing, orientation and mandatory drill, the ship sets sail into the legendary Beagle Channel. As Ushuaia fades into the distance behind you, your expedition through the wild landscapes of Patagonia officially begins.

Cape Horn
3Day

Cape Horn

Today brings you to legendary Cape Horn, where rugged islands and wave-battered skerries rise from the stormy waters at the southernmost tip of the Americas. Long regarded with awe by generations of sailors, this remote headland marks one of the world’s most storied maritime frontiers.

Weather permitting, you will go ashore to explore the small naval outpost and visit the poignant monument honouring those who lost their lives attempting this formidable passage. Later, the ship turns northwest towards the calmer, more sheltered waters of the Chilean fjords.

Western Beagle Channel & Strait of Magellan
4Day

Western Beagle Channel & Strait of Magellan

Journey through the western reaches of the Beagle Channel towards the historic Strait of Magellan, a legendary route long sought by explorers as a safer alternative to the turbulent waters around Cape Horn. Here, the final peaks of the Andes descend dramatically into a maze of fjords, channels and ice-carved valleys.

Subject to conditions, you will head out by Zodiac to explore this remote wilderness at closer range. Look out for local wildlife among rugged mountains, wind-shaped forests and immense glaciers, while taking in some of the most spectacular scenery in southern Patagonia.

Punta Arenas
5Day

Punta Arenas

Today you arrive in Punta Arenas, a historic port city overlooking the Strait of Magellan and one of Chile’s principal gateways to Antarctica. Take a stroll along the waterfront, where Magellanic penguins, cormorants and soaring albatross may all be seen around the busy channel.

You may also choose to explore the surrounding countryside and learn more about the region’s ranching traditions. Back in the city, the Mercado Municipal offers a lively introduction to local life, with fresh seafood, handcrafted souvenirs and traditional dishes served in its upstairs restaurants.

Smyth Channel & Montañas Fjord
6Day

Smyth Channel & Montañas Fjord

Sail from the Strait of Magellan into the sheltered waters of the Smyth Channel, one of countless passages threading through Patagonia’s vast fjordlands. Along the way, look out for the wreck of the Santa Leonor and the snow-covered summit of Monte Burney rising above the surrounding wilderness.

The scenery becomes increasingly dramatic as you enter Montañas Fjord, where glaciers descend between rugged mountain peaks towards the water. This evening, step outside as the ship carefully navigates the narrow Kirke Narrows on its journey towards Puerto Natales.

Puerto Natales & Torres del Paine
7Day

Puerto Natales & Torres del Paine

This morning we’ll arrive in Puerto Natales, a characterful frontier town set between the vast Patagonian plains and the eastern slopes of the Andes. From here, journey into the breathtaking landscapes of Torres del Paine National Park, one of South America’s most celebrated wilderness areas and a true highlight of the voyage.

Spend the day exploring sapphire-blue lakes, glacier-fed valleys and the immense granite towers and Cuernos del Paine that have become enduring symbols of Patagonia. A traditional Chilean lunch is included, while wildlife sightings may feature guanacos, rheas, armadillos and soaring condors, with the possibility of glimpsing the elusive puma in this magnificent protected landscape.

Cruising the Chilean Fjords
8Day

Cruising the Chilean Fjords

Spend the day sailing through the remote Chilean Fjords, a vast wilderness of steep mountains, sheltered channels and forests shaped by the region’s powerful winds. Sea lions gather along the shores while albatross soar overhead, offering excellent opportunities to watch for wildlife from the open decks.

Join the Expedition Team for informative lectures about the landscapes, wildlife and Indigenous heritage of southern Chile, or simply relax and enjoy the ever-changing scenery. You may even choose to unwind in the onboard hot tubs as the ship continues through one of Patagonia’s most beautiful and untouched regions.

Puerto Edén
9Day

Puerto Edén

Discover Puerto Edén today, a remote waterfront settlement on Wellington Island that can only be reached by sea. Known to the Kawésqar people as Jetarktétqal, this isolated village is one of the last places where their language and traditional maritime culture remain an important part of daily life.

Explore with local guides along the network of boardwalks connecting the village’s homes and community buildings, surrounded by lush, rain-soaked hills and flowering fuchsias alive with hummingbirds. You may also have the opportunity to see traditional Kawésqar crafts, including woven-grass baskets and handcrafted sealskin boats.

Caleta Tortel
10Day

Caleta Tortel

Next up we explore Caleta Tortel, a picturesque village set deep within the Chilean fjords at the mouth of the mighty Baker River. Surrounded by sapphire waters, steep mountains and cascading waterfalls, the settlement is linked by an intricate network of cypress-wood boardwalks, stairways and footpaths.

Wander past colourful houses and wooden pavilions, join the Expedition Team for a hike into the surrounding hills, or spend time watching for endemic birds along the shoreline. From every angle, Caleta Tortel offers some of the most beautiful and atmospheric scenery in Patagonia.

At sea, en route to Castro
11Day

At sea, en route to Castro

It’s time for another relaxing day at sea as the ship follows Chile’s Pacific coast north towards Castro. These waters are influenced by the cold, nutrient-rich Humboldt Current, creating excellent conditions for marine wildlife throughout the region.

Spend time on deck watching for albatross, whales and other ocean life, or simply unwind and enjoy the onboard facilities as the scenery slips past. Keep your binoculars close, as wildlife sightings may occur at any time.

Castro, Chiloe Island
12Day

Castro, Chiloe Island

Today we’ll discover the distinctive character of Chiloé Island, a place shaped by centuries of relative isolation and a rich blend of Indigenous and European traditions. Rolling green countryside surrounds Castro, the island’s colourful capital, where local myths, legends and maritime customs remain deeply woven into everyday life.

Explore lively markets filled with regional produce and unusual seafood delicacies, from giant green-lipped mussels to seaweed and dried sea squirts. Castro is also known for its vibrant shingled houses and Chiloé’s remarkable wooden churches, collectively recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Niebla
13Day

Niebla

Our last stop takes us to Niebla, a picturesque former fortress at the mouth of the Valdivia River and the gateway to the lively city of Valdivia. Here, Spanish and German influences combine to create a distinctive cultural character, seen in the city’s architecture, cuisine and relaxed riverside atmosphere.

Stroll through the colourful Feria Fluvial, where stalls overflow with fresh local produce and wildlife gathers nearby in search of scraps. You may also pause for coffee and a slice of traditional kuchen while watching black-necked swans, sea lions and rowers share the busy river.

At sea, en route to Valparaíso
14Day

At sea, en route to Valparaíso

Spend your final full day on board sailing north towards Valparaíso, with time to relax, reconnect with fellow travellers and reflect on the remarkable experiences of your Patagonian expedition. As the climate grows milder, enjoy the outer decks and watch for changing birdlife, including colourful Inca terns.

This evening, gather for the Captain’s Farewell Party and raise a glass to the journey with a specially prepared cocktail. A final expedition slideshow and celebratory dinner provide the perfect opportunity to relive the voyage and share favourite memories with your fellow explorers.

Valparaíso - Disembarkation
