All our itinerary holidays are fully customisable

Reykjavik
1 - 2Days

Reykjavik

Your Arctic Northern Lights expedition will begin in the Icelandic capital city of Reykjavik where after arriving independently you can make your way to your hotel for your overnight stay. You may wish to arrive a couple of days early to allow more time to sample some of this vibrant city’s many delights.

On the morning of day 2 you will join the transfer to the port to board your ship and settle in to your comfortable surroundings. As we set sail you will get fantastic views of Reykjavik’s surrounding landscapes. Your experienced expedition crew will brief you on what’s ahead as you embark on your Arctic adventure.

Westfjords, Iceland
3Day

Westfjords, Iceland

Today, you’ll uncover one of Iceland’s most enchanting hidden gems, the remote Vestfjords (Westfjords). Tucked away in the country’s far northwest, this wild peninsula is a dramatic meeting place of mountains and sea, where deep fjords carve through ancient landscapes and cliffs plunge into the Atlantic. Known as Iceland’s best-kept secret, the Vestfjords offer a spellbinding mix of natural beauty and rich history. As we explore this rugged region, you’ll be treated to ever-changing vistas. Think waterfalls cascading down steep slopes, colourful beaches, and tranquil moorlands dotted with lakes, rocky outcrops, and the occasional grazing Icelandic horse or sheep. Along the way, we’ll encounter small fishing villages clinging to the fjord edges and Denmark Strait shores which are home to communities that still echo with the spirit of the Vikings and a deep connection to the sea that has shaped their way of life for centuries.

At Sea
4Day

At Sea

Today will be spent at sea sailing across the Denmark Strait towards Greenland. Take the time to relax and enjoy the comforts of your expedition ship, watch a movie, sip on a cocktail from the bar or simply take advantage of the chance to put your feet up before the adventures that lie ahead. You can join interesting presentations and talks about the wildlife, geology and history of the Arctic, whilst on deck the nature experts onboard can help you to identify the seabirds and whales that may be following the ship.

In the evening, as with every night on this specially timed Arctic cruise, we will hope for clear skies and the chance to spot the incredible Aurora Borealis dancing in the night skies.

Northeast Greenland
5 - 12Days

Northeast Greenland

The next 8 days of adventure will offer ample opportunities to experience the unique beauty of this remarkable area, sailing with a flexible itinerary designed to evoke the true spirit of expedition. Exploring by Zodiac and on foot, you’ll visit a variety of pristine sites within Northeast Greenland National Park which home to nearly half of the world’s muskoxen, which we’ll keep watch for as they graze the tundra.

Cruising through the breathtaking Scoresby Sund, the planet’s largest and many say most beautiful fjord system, you’ll be surrounded by towering peaks, glittering icebergs, and serene, glacier-carved channels. Stops at places like Frederiksdal and Sydkap invite you to wander across vibrant tundra and discover remnants of ancient Thule settlements. At the mouth of the fjord lies Ittoqqortoormiit, East Greenland’s northernmost community, where you can meet local Inuit residents and gain insight into their enduring traditions. Venturing deeper into the fjord, Røde Ø offers a stunning contrast of cobalt-blue icebergs set against rust-red cliffs, while the grandeur of Kong Oscar Fjord unfolds with potential landings at Ella Ø which is famed for its dramatic cliffs, and the flower-filled meadows of Botanikerbugt on Ymer Ø.

After a long day of excursions, each evening will bring another opportunity for hopeful views of the spectacular Northern Lights! During your time here there will be also be the opportunity to enjoy a thrilling helicopter flightseeing excursion!

At Sea & Reykjavik
13 - 14Days

At Sea & Reykjavik

Leaving the magnificent wonders of Greenland behind, your last day at sea will be the perfect opportunity to relax and reflect on all that you will have experienced over the last week. Sip an icy cocktail in the bar, spend some time on deck spotting more seabirds and whales, take the time to collate the countless photos you will have no doubt taken on your voyage or join the last of your informative and entertaining presentations and talks on all things Arctic.

On the morning of day 14 your arrival back in the port in Reykjavik will sadly signal the end of your journey. After disembarkation, a transfer will be provided to the airport or to a downtown location should you be extending your stay here in this unique capital city. Various tours and excursions are available in Reykjavik so please feel free to ask for advice and options for extending your trip.
