Our popularitinerary Suggestions

All our itinerary holidays are fully customisable

St. Johns, Embarkation
1Day

St. Johns, Embarkation

Begin your journey in St. John’s, where brightly painted row houses, lively harbourfront streets and a warm Newfoundland welcome set the tone for the adventure ahead. Arriving independently, you’ll transfer to the port and board Ocean Albatros in one of Canada’s most characterful coastal cities, known for its friendly atmosphere, excellent seafood and rich seafaring heritage.

Once on board, take time to settle into your stateroom and get acquainted with the ship before the mandatory safety briefings take place. Then, as the ship slips away from the harbour and heads towards the sheltered waters of Notre Dame Bay, raise a glass and enjoy the excitement of the voyage beginning.

Twillingate
2Day

Twillingate

Our first stop brings us to Twillingate, which offers a wonderfully atmospheric taste of outport Newfoundland, with colourful houses scattered across rocky slopes and fishing boats bobbing gently in the sheltered waters of Notre Dame Bay. This charming coastal community feels both timeless and welcoming, with a strong connection to the sea shaping daily life, local culture and the excellent seafood served in its restaurants.

Ashore, you can explore the area’s rugged natural beauty on walks led by knowledgeable local guides, or browse Twillingate’s small galleries, artisan shops and creative spaces. The town is also famed as the iceberg capital of Canada, and during the approach and departure you may spot vast sculpted bergs drifting through the bay, making this a particularly memorable stretch of the voyage.

L’Anse aux Meadows
3Day

L’Anse aux Meadows

Today we land by Zodiac at L’Anse aux Meadows, one of North America’s most remarkable historic sites. Set on Newfoundland’s northern tip, this UNESCO World Heritage Site preserves the remains of a Norse settlement and stands as extraordinary proof that Viking explorers reached these shores centuries before Columbus. As you explore the site, you’ll be walking in the footsteps of Leif Erikson and the early seafarers whose sagas once seemed more myth than history.

Red Bay, Labrador
4Day

Red Bay, Labrador

We now cross to Labrador and arrive at Red Bay, a small coastal settlement set within one of Canada’s most remote and dramatic landscapes. Labrador’s immense shoreline, deep fjords and sparse population speak to the scale and harsh beauty of this region, where communities have long depended on the ocean and its resources. It is a place with a powerful sense of history, shaped by both its isolation and its enduring connection to the sea.

Once ashore, you can explore the surrounding landscape on foot and learn more about the area’s remarkable past with guidance from local experts. Red Bay is particularly significant for its links to the Basque whalers who were among the first Europeans to settle in this far northern region, adding an important historical dimension to your visit.

Woody Point
5Day

Woody Point

Today we arrive at Woody Point, a charming village set on the still waters of Bonne Bay and surrounded by the forested slopes of western Newfoundland. With its peaceful setting and warm local welcome, this small community is an inviting base from which to discover one of the island’s most extraordinary natural regions.

This area is the gateway to Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO-listed wilderness renowned for its dramatic scenery and remarkable geology. Local guides help bring this landscape to life, explaining how ancient tectonic forces pushed part of the Earth’s oceanic crust to the surface, creating the stark and unusual terrain seen today. It is a fascinating place where natural beauty and geological wonder go hand in hand.

Garia Bay
6Day

Garia Bay

We now venture into the remote wilderness of Garia Bay, where a quieter and more untouched side of Newfoundland comes into focus. Despite its vast size, the island remains sparsely populated, and this stretch of coast offers a real sense of its raw natural beauty, with rugged landscapes, open shorelines and a feeling of true isolation.

Accompanied by your expedition team, you’ll have the chance to explore this wild corner of the island while keeping watch for some of Newfoundland’s distinctive wildlife. Seabirds are often seen along the coast, while inland there may also be a chance of spotting moose or even the elusive Newfoundland black bear, so it is well worth having your binoculars close to hand.

St. Pierre
7Day

St. Pierre

Your final adventure will bring you to St. Pierre, a fascinating island that feels at once familiar and entirely unexpected. Although it lies just off the coast of Newfoundland, this small archipelago is in fact a French overseas territory, and the atmosphere reflects that at every turn. French is the language of daily life, euros are used in the shops, and the cafés and restaurants bring a distinctly continental flavour to this corner of the North Atlantic.

During your visit, local guides will introduce you to the culture, history and identity of this unusual outpost, where French traditions endure against a backdrop of windswept hills and coastal scenery that feels unmistakably Atlantic Canada. It is a striking and memorable last stop, offering a small but authentic taste of France in North America.

St. John’s, Disembarkation
8Day

St. John’s, Disembarkation

Your voyage concludes back in the lively harbour of St. John’s, Newfoundland’s colourful capital. After a final breakfast on board, it is time to bid farewell to the crew and expedition team, and step ashore with lasting memories of dramatic coastlines, welcoming communities and the rich natural and cultural heritage of this remarkable part of Canada.
