Our popularitinerary Suggestions

All our itinerary holidays are fully customisable

Longyearbyen
1 - 2Days

Longyearbyen

Arrive independently to Longyearbyen, the charming administrative capital of Svalbard, where you will be greeted at the airport and transferred to a quality local hotel for an enjoyable included overnight stay. The rest of the day will be free to explore this fascinating settlement at your leisure. We recommend visiting the excellent Svalbard Museum before enjoying a delicious dinner at one of Longyearbyen’s many delightful restaurants. If you are still awake at midnight, you will notice the sun has not set. In fact, the sun will not set for the entire duration of our time in Svalbard!

The following morning and early afternoon you will have more free time to explore, shop for souvenirs or maybe indulge in a lunch of the most northerly pizzas and kebabs in the world! In the afternoon, your transfer will take you to the port to board your expedition ship, the classically luxurious M/v Sea Spirit. Make yourself comfortable in your new surroundings as your ship sails into the wilderness through Isfjorden. Spectacular scenery abounds and with virtually 24 hour daylight at this time of year, we can already be on the lookout for marine mammals.

The Best of West Svalbard
3 - 7Days

The Best of West Svalbard

Over the next five days, you’ll explore the highlights of western Spitsbergen, where glacier-filled fjords, rugged mountains, Arctic tundra and shifting sea ice create a spectacular setting for adventure. With relatively short distances between key sites, there will be plenty of opportunities for Zodiac cruises, shore landings, wildlife watching and walks ashore. Exact plans will remain flexible, allowing the expedition team to respond to weather, sea ice and wildlife activity each day.

Possible highlights include the dramatic fjords of South Spitsbergen National Park, including Hornsund, where immense glaciers descend between towering peaks. Around Bellsund, you may encounter remnants of Svalbard’s whaling past, while the surrounding tundra offers rewarding walks among Arctic flora, birdlife and striking geological formations.

Further north, Northwest Spitsbergen National Park is home to vast tidewater glaciers, deep fjords and busy seabird cliffs. The voyage may also take you towards Prins Karls Forland in search of walruses, while North Isfjorden offers opportunities to spot Svalbard reindeer and Arctic foxes. A visit to Ny-Ålesund may also feature, offering a fascinating glimpse into the archipelago’s history and its role in modern Arctic research.

A special focus throughout the expedition will be the sea ice. Whenever conditions allow, the ship will make every effort to approach coastal fast ice or reach the polar ice edge, where ringed seals may be seen and there is always the exciting possibility of encountering polar bears in their natural habitat.

Longyearbyen - Disembark
8Day

Longyearbyen - Disembark

After a final breakfast on board, your Svalbard expedition draws to a close back in Longyearbyen. Following disembarkation, enjoy a guided tour of the town and discover some of its most interesting sights before your onward journey.

Transfers will then be provided to the airport or town centre for those extending their stay. Although the voyage is over, the vast Arctic landscapes, remarkable wildlife and sense of wilderness are sure to stay with you long after you leave Svalbard.
