Baja Whale Shark Special

Arrive independently to San José del Cabo and join your transfer from the airport to the designated meeting area to begin your overland orientation transfer to La Paz. As you travel you will get your first views of the beautiful Baja landscape and be briefed about the adventures that lie ahead. After boarding and settling into your cabin we will set sail as you enjoy a cocktail and dinner with your new shipmates.

The ruggedly beautiful adventure playground of Isla San Francisco is ours to enjoy today as we anchor off the coast and make our way to the shore for a hike across the ridge, through the steep red bluffs and across the sweeping desert beach. A snorkel in the bay will reward with lots of sightings of colourful sea life, or you may choose to enjoy a kayaking excursion, a paddleboarding trip or relax on the beach with your toes in the sand and surrounded by incredible natural beauty.

Today we will head for the beautiful Bahía Agua Verde where the clear waters bordered by sparse craggy mountains are a delight to explore by skiff (small boat). You will also have the unique chance today to visit with a local ranchero and his family to experience the “real Baja” on a mule ride through the mountains and canyons of this exceptionally scenic spot. This thoroughly enjoyable day will be rewarding and fun, and will also give you great chances for birdwatching as you trek.

Today is all about marine wildlife as we spend the day searching the Sea of Cortés for the dolphin pods that can often be seen here in huge numbers, as well as sperm whales and the largest baleen whales in the world, fin whales and blue whales. Depending on the time of year you may also see gray whales.

Our next stop brings us to the steep craggy seamount of Los Islotes where you can take a memorable snorkelling trip to look for the young sea lion pups that are often frolicking here. Later we will head to Isla Partida for some kayaking, snorkelling and paddle-boarding, or a hike along the island’s desert beaches and rocky arroyos. In the evening you can settle down on the beach for an unforgettable beach party with your newfound friends, with drinks, lounge chairs and party atmosphere provided!

Today will take you to the secluded coves of Isla Espiritu Santo where you can spend the day however you wish. Relax on the golden beach surrounded by the beautiful vistas of the iconic long fingers of red rock that epitomise the area, investigate the coves and crannies by kayak, take a guided hike or hop onto the paddleboards.

The last day of your Baja cruise is likely to be one of the most memorable as we make our way back to Bahia de la Paz for the chance to swim with Whale Sharks! Less scary than their name suggests, whale sharks are gentle giants and pose little threat to humans. You will be briefed and guided throughout so as to not pose any threat to them either. Your skiff boat will take you out into the warm areas of the bay where the whale sharks are known to gather, and once we find the perfect spot you can either get your snorkel and fins on and jump in, or just watch from the boat with your camera in hand. Either way, it’s guaranteed to be a memorable day and the perfect way to round off our cruise!

Back on board in the evening you can join your captain and shipmates for a special farewell dinner and a slideshow presentation to commemorate your voyage.

Arrival back in La Paz signals the end of your voyage and after breakfast you will disembark and transfer back to San José del Cabo for your onward or homeward flights. If you wish to extend your stay in San José del Cabo, please enquire for options.
