Juneau - Embark
Arrive independently to Juneau, make your way to the designated meeting point and join your transfer to the port to board your vessel. Settle into your comfortable cabin as we set sail from this picturesque port town.
Glacier Bay National Park Outback
Today we will spend the full day exploring the outback areas of this epic national park, adventuring into the park via kayak, paddleboard, skiff boat and on foot. Some of the rarely visited areas we may discover include No Name Cove near Excursion Inlet, Dundas Bay or Fern Harbor. Whichever areas we visit you can be guaranteed a full and rewarding day of activities and memory-making.
In the morning we will awake in Corner Bay along the Chichagof coast. Our likely plan of action today will be to anchor in Chichagof Island inlet and hop into our kayaks, skiffs or paddleboards to explore the waters and search for whales, seals and seabirds soaring above. A hike or bike up through the moss-covered trees and rain-fed waterfalls will be strenuous but rewarding, or you may wish to stay on lower ground and beachcomb the rocky shores whilst looking for seals, sea creatures and bears. Boasting one of the world’s largest populations of bears, today might be our best chance to see them!
We will also have the chance to meet the Chew family and learn about what it is like to live and work in the wilds of Alaska.
South Baranof Wilderness Area
Today is set to be a memorable one as, surrounded by mountains, we sail into one of Southeast Alaska’s most scenic areas, Patterson Bay. An early morning kayak or skiff excursion will start the day off on the right foot. We will then make a gentle navigation through the South Baranof Wilderness Area top visit spots such as Mist Cove, Deep Cove and Port Walter. Throughout the day there will be ample opportunities for kayaking and paddleboarding, and some guests may also choose to join a snorkelling excursion. There are good chances of spotting Orcas and humpback whales today so make sure to always have your camera on hand. We will end the day with a cruise to the dramatic spot of Gut Bay at the north end of the wilderness area.
Thomas Bay & Baird Glacier
This morning we will awake close to Cascade Creek in Thomas Bay to begin another day of activities. Long flat hikes, steep elevation climbs, calm kayaking, and hikes to a glacial lake with the mighty Baird Glacier still calving ice into the lake may all be options today.
LeConte Glacier Wilderness Area
Today’s highlight will be a visit to the impressive LeConte Glacier, the southernmost tidewater glacier in the northern hemisphere. Your captain will time your visit depending on the tide and we will spend some time exploring this unique spot. In the afternoon we will head to Ideal Cove for some hiking opportunities, and we may enjoy a campfire ashore this evening.
Marine Wildlife Spotting
Your last full day will be spent mostly at sea as we enjoy some gentle cruising in search of sightings of the abundant marine wildlife that is often sighted in the waters of Frederick Sound and Stephens Passage. As we sail you can be on the lookout for orcas, porpoises, Steller sea lions, dolphins, seals and Pelagic birds. This area also has the highest seasonal concentration of Humpback Whales in Alaska, maybe even all of the Northern Hemisphere, so chances for spotting these huge animals are high. In the evening you can join your captain for a special farewell dinner and slideshow presentation celebrating your voyage.
Juneau - Disembark
Arrival back in Juneau signals the end of your voyage and after breakfast you will disembark and join your transfer to the airport for onward or homeward travel. Should you wish to extend your stay in Alaska, please enquire for options and suggestions.
