Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park

This morning you will transfer by road to the fantastic Tarangire National Park. You will spend 2 nights here staying in the striking Maweninga Camp which is dramatically perched atop a great granite massif in the north-west of the park. Your days here will be spent enjoying thrilling game drives in the park in search of big cats, elephants in their thousands, giraffes, buffalos, and rarer species such as the Gerenuk, small Kudu, and Oryx.

Transfer to Bashay Rift Lodge
4Day

Transfer to Bashay Rift Lodge

Following a final early morning game drive in Tarangire National Park, you will transfer out through the park and make your way towards the foot of the Ngorongoro Crater. Your wonderfully scenic drive will take you through Manyara, then up the Great Rift Escarpment before reaching Karatu, at the foot of the crater.

After checking into the excellent Bashay Rift Lodge, perched upon a hill with breathtaking 360° views over the Ngorongoro walls on one end and the Rift Valley on the other, you can enjoy an afternoon at your leisure. You may wish to avail of some of the many activity options here including mountain biking and guided plantations walks. Alternatively, unwind by the pool or enjoy a relaxing massage.

Ngorongoro Crater & Olduvai Camp

Ngorongoro Crater & Olduvai Camp

Another memorable day lies ahead as you depart the lodge after breakfast and embark on a full day game drive around the Ngorongoro Crater, keeping a watch for the hundreds of different species that thrive here protected by a 600m wall in one of the world's most unique regions. Expect bountiful elephants, hippos, big cats and rhinos as you explore. A picnic lunch in the crater will be provided.

You will then enjoy an unforgettable welcome at your next lodgings, the authentic Olduvai Camp, where you will be greeted by Maasai warriors and asked to join them on a walk to a nearby Kopje to soak up the remarkable sunset across the Serengeti plains.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Begin your day with an early morning walk through the legendary Olduvai Gorge, led by a Maasai walking guide and accompanied by an armed ranger. Departing directly from Olduvai Camp, you’ll gently traverse the surrounding plains, often shared with giraffes and dik-diks, before descending into the gorge itself. As the terrain becomes steeper, layers of ancient rock and fossil-rich ground tell the story of nearly two million years of human history. Follow a mostly dry streambed along the second half of the route, gaining a powerful sense of place where Homo Erectus once stood. End your walk at the Olduvai Museum, where a waiting vehicle will take you onward after an optional visit to learn more about the groundbreaking discoveries made here.

You will then move on towards Ndutu to enjoy lunch at Ndutu Lodge followed by a memorable game drive before making your way back to Olduvai Camp.

Transfer to Serengeti NP

Transfer to Serengeti NP

After breakfast, you now make your way to the most famous National Park on earth, the incredible Serengeti. Renowned to being home to the world’s largest concentration of big cats, amongst countless other species, this is likely to be a day you will never forget. Enjoy a full day game drive in the park as you make your way to your next lodgings, discovering the multiple habitats and landscapes here, with savannah and the big plains to the south, the hills & woods to the west, the kopjes area to the east, and bush land to the north.

Lunch will be provided at Ronjo Camp, and in the late afternoon you will check into Grumeti Hills to enjoy dinner and a well-earned rest in the heart of the Grumeti Game Reserve on the border of the National Park.

Grumeti Private Area

Grumeti Private Area

Set off early this morning on a guided walking safari through the Grumeti Game Controlled Area within the Serengeti NP, accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide and an armed ranger. This immersive experience offers a unique opportunity to explore the landscape on foot, discovering the finer details of the ecosystem and observing wildlife from a new perspective. After approximately 1.5 hours, you'll arrive at a scenic spot along the Grumeti River, where a freshly prepared bush breakfast awaits amidst a truly memorable setting.

Return to the lodge mid-morning for some well-earned relaxation. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings, take a dip in the pool, or indulge in a massage before lunch is served.

The afternoon is yours to design. You could head out on another game drive or simply unwind at the lodge. An early dinner will be served before heading out again, this time for an exhilarating night game drive to witness the bush come alive after dark.

Northern Serengeti

This morning, depart Grumeti Hills and travel north to the remote and breathtaking Tanzanian Mara, the Serengeti’s northernmost tip. Your destination is the stunning Mara River Post, a beautifully situated camp overlooking the iconic Mara River and offering front-row views in one of the most dramatic wildlife areas in the region.

Over the next two days, explore this vast and untamed landscape, where you may have the chance, depending on the season, to witness one of nature’s most extraordinary spectacles, the great Mara River crossings. Watch in wonder as massive herds of wildebeest brave the crocodile-infested waters during their annual migration.

This area is teeming with life. Not only will you see the migrating herds, but also large elephant families and a strong presence of predators, including lions and leopards, drawn by the abundance of prey during this remarkable season.

Scenic Flight Back to Arusha

After a final morning game drive, your thrilling Tanzania safari itinerary nears its conclusion. Yet there’s time for one more adventure as you take an unforgettably scenic flight from the Kogatende Airstrip to Arusha, flying over the endless Serengeti plains, the volcano chain & the Great Rift Escarpment. A picnic lunch will be provided onboard, and upon arrival in Arusha, you will be met and transferred to Arusha Coffee Lodge for lunch and then on to JRO airport for your onward or homeward flights.
