1Day

Paris to Longyearbyen - Embark

Join your included flight from Paris to Longyearbyen, the administrative capital of Svalbard, where you will transfer to the port to board your luxury expedition vessel. You can settle into your supremely comfortable cabin and familiarise yourself with the ship as we sail out of Longyearbyen surrounded by wonderful scenery and head into the Isfjord as your Arctic adventure begins.

At Sea Along Spitsbergen
2Day

At Sea Along Spitsbergen

Today will be spent onboard sailing along Spitsbergen’s dramatic west coast surrounded by enchanting scenery and a constant chance of observing wildlife. The largest island in Svalbard, between millennial glaciers and rugged mountains, you will discover a jagged coastline, hollowed-out by fjords. Photo opportunities abound, and as we sail, some time on deck should hopefully reward in wildlife sightings. We may even be lucky enough to spot a Polar bear!

Sailing the Ice Floes
3 - 5Days

Sailing the Ice Floes

As we make our way slowly towards the Geographical North Pole, we can enjoy the unique experience of sailing through the vast expanse of virgin, immaculate ice that makes up the ice floe between Spitsbergen and the farthest northern reaches of the globe. Wildlife sightings are likely as we sail through the constantly changing landscapes that are covered by a frozen layer of ice. Combined with a fantastic programme of lectures and presentations, and the wonderful amenities on board your ship, these days at sea are likely to be truly memorable.

The Geographic North Pole
6 - 7Days

The Geographic North Pole

At 90° North latitude, where all meridians converge, the Geographic North Pole marks the very axis of the Earth’s rotation. Wrapped in darkness for six months of the year and bathed in continuous sunlight for the next six, this legendary point has long captured the imagination of explorers and dreamers alike.

Remote, inaccessible by conventional means, and permanently set upon drifting sea ice far from any land, the North Pole remains one of the planet’s most extraordinary destinations. Reaching it was once reserved for only a select few polar pioneers. Today, aboard Le Commandant Charcot, you have the rare opportunity to experience this remarkable achievement for yourself.

During these unforgettable days, embrace the privilege of standing at the top of the world, surrounded by the vast silence and shifting ice of the High Arctic, experiencing a true bucket list moment.

Back to Svalbard
8 - 10Days

Back to Svalbard

As your voyage turns southward back towards Svalbard, savour the experience of more navigation deep into the ice floes. Take time to relax after an exhilarating few days. These days also offer some more opportunities to observe wildlife specially adapted to life on the ice floe. In this remote polar environment, every movement across the frozen expanse is a reminder of the remarkable resilience of Arctic fauna.

Ny-Alesund, Spitsbergen
11Day

Ny-Alesund, Spitsbergen

Today we’ll call at Ny-Ålesund, one of the world’s northernmost settlements, nestled on the shores of Spitsbergen. Founded in 1916 as a mining town, Ny-Ålesund has since been transformed into an international scientific research base, where the spirit of Arctic discovery still lingers. This small yet historic outpost played an important role in polar exploration and served as the departure point for several landmark Arctic expeditions, including those led by Roald Amundsen. Its remote setting and storied past make it a fascinating place to explore.

While ashore, visit the local museum to gain insight into the settlement’s mining heritage and pioneering history, and be sure to stop by to send a postcard from its famous post office, often regarded as the northernmost post office in the world.

Northwest Spitsbergen
12Day

Northwest Spitsbergen

For our final adventure we will explore more of the north-west region of Spitsbergen, a striking realm of islands, peninsulas, fjords, and glaciers where Arctic wilderness reveals itself in all its grandeur. Here, the scenery is both powerful and serene, with jagged mountains rising above icy waters, monumental glaciers descending toward the sea, and shifting light lends an ever-changing beauty to this untouched landscape.

In this pristine environment, nature reigns supreme. The stillness is broken only by the subtle sounds of cracking ice and the movement of wildlife across the tundra, shoreline, and sea. Accompanied by your expert naturalist-guides, set out aboard Zodiacs for a closer look at this remarkable ecosystem and the extraordinary creatures that call it home.

Keep watch for the rich fauna of Svalbard, including whales surfacing in glacial waters, seals and walrus resting along the coast, Arctic foxes moving across the land, and Svalbard reindeer grazing the open expanses. Overhead, Arctic terns bring life to the polar sky, while, with luck, you may even glimpse the majestic polar bear patrolling the ice-fringed shores.

Longyearbyen to Paris
13Day

Longyearbyen to Paris

As you arrive back into beautiful Longyearbyen, after breakfast it will be time to disembark and join your included flight back to Paris. Numerous further Arctic adventures are available in Longyearbyen so please enquire should you wish to extend your experience and spend a few more days in this unique Arctic town.
